Default new alternator wiring; help?

Hi, I have a 1995 Disco, whos alternator recently went out. Instead of buying it from the dealer, I ebayed it and found an alternator from a 1996 Disco. The seller said it would fit a 95, so I believed it and purchased it. The alternator fit right, however the wiring is a little bit different, i.e., there was a wire with a ring at the end and a wire with something like a little plug at the end, however the new alternator has no place for this plug. Can anyone help me out as far as how to modify (if possible) my old wirings for this new alternator? I know i'm giving a vague description, but if you're willing to help me out, I can send pictures of what I'm talking about. I apreciate any help. Thanks so much

Tricia
