Question no 2 wheel drive

Hello I have a 96 tdi disco and in hi and low 2 wheel drive it wont go. There is just a sort of scrapping sound. In 4wd there is no probs it drives great.Does any one have info on this.

I would quit driving it and have someone inspect the rear diff. Either you blew the rear diff or the axles. This is kind of common in that Rover never used a really strong diff in our trucks.

Maybe because there isn't a 2 wheel drive option on a Disco?

Sico,
If you start up your truck, while in High range, put your tranny in drive and look under the truck, you will see your rear drive shaft spinning, this is a good indication of a bad rear dif.

Bad desciptions of the problem yield bad advise...
