Question Normal Temperature?

I have a 94 discovery (3.9l V8) and the temperature needle goes up to right about halfway on easy driving, and then varies ever so slightly just above and under the halfway-mark. In heavy traffic it goes up to about 3/4ths the gauge. Just got it early this year and have never had one so I don't know where it's supposed to be - is this normal?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Sounds like it is moving about a little too much.
I would suggest you check and clean the outside of the radiator, maybe look at replacing the t/stat, maybe consider going to a radiator shop and ask them about roding out the radiator to reestablish good flow.
Try those for starters.

Thanks for the quick reply Disco Mike! Will do that!

So halfway is where it should stay? I've had a couple of overheats on other cars , so I've gotten quite sensitive as to where the temperature needle is.

whatever it is, I would have it taken care of ASAP, V8 Rovers tend to be unforgiving when it comes to overheation
