Default ODB 1 plug?

My '95 V8 manual Disco I didn't come with the nifty LED readout underneath the seat.

I recently pulled the dashboard out to chase a few gremlins (turns out that the car locator system folk did some unorthodox wiring) and came accross this plug - is this the plug that will hook into a reader? TIA for any pointers!

For your amusement, I've included a picture of how far I stripped it. The drivers seat and door were also removed. You can see how well the Rhino Lining turned out, too. It's halfway back together - it's a multiple-weekend job!

MG what the hell were you looking for when tearing out your entire dash?!

Sorry, don't know what the plug is for.

  1. I needed to clean up some weird wiring problems that were consuming fuses like candy and encouraging the Lucas gremlins.
  2. I rerouted and relocated the aftermarket alarm and gps locator systems panic buttons.
  3. I removed as much as possible in order to have the Rhino Linings people get as much polyurethane as far as possible - I don't need to explain to any of you about water ingress in our rigs, right?
  4. I was sick of the noisy rattling coming from under there.
  5. I had the tranny and clutch serviced (it's less expensive if you have your indy mechanic do that work with the console out).
  6. Because I saw it as a challenge and I need an excuse to drink (not really)
Are we having fun, yet?

Holy mother of all disassemblies! That must have been some Gremlin!

I have a 95 with all sorts of plugs dangling. I've been told and read that they're ok. Hmm...I'll bet one controls my windshield washer.

Oh, there are a ton of plugs in there that don't go anywhere - I worked in Kodak's harness assembly division a summer and, due to design and assembly costs, the harnesses for different copier models are identical (there are always some wires that don't go anywhere). I imagine that our wiring is the same for the luxury and the base models...

Now that it's going back in, it doesn´t seem that complicated. I took a ton of pix, though, so if anyone need to see how stuff is in there, let me know.

Thanks for the salute, Pavel.

Cheers,
