Default oxygen sensors

About to order sensor and have a question. I had the check engine code read at my local Autozone and know which sensor to replace. The question is should I go to the expense and change all or just the one giving me the problem? I have a 1996 SD with 113,000 miles. It's not an every day driver,

My 2 cents. If its not your everyday driver than just fix whats broken and leave the rest alone as far as sensors go. Now engine and drivetrain components that a different story.

Usually you replace these things as pairs, like light bulbs, windshield wiper blades, etc.. So I would replace both.

My 2 cents.

your mileage, you should replace all your O2's. This will give you a better performance similiar to when your truck was new.
Check arond on the web for prices, I would suggest DAP and Rover Connection, they ae usually the better places to buy from.
Good luck,
Mike

I think that is the passenger side of the motor, but I am not too sure.

Passenger side is correct. I know I will most likely regret it but I ordered one and cleaned the other on the passenger side with carb cleaner. Haven't decided what to do about the drivers side yet. The one I need to replace was damaged while trying to get it out. Well let's say it is not out but the wrench slipped several times and it is rounded. Actually I am going to have to cut the wires and try to use a deep well socket or an easy out to get it out. I'll post my results!

Bosh operating systems on D2's have four, early D1's have 2, I think the new D1's have four and I can be wrong.
When in doubt, crawl under and see.

I think this is how it goes...'94 & '95 have two, before the cats. '96 and on have four, two before and two after the cats. Bank 1, driver's side. Bank 2, passenger's side. And I think there is another code that indicates which one, either fore or aft of the cats.

Make sure you shop around on the web when buying these O2's, you can save quite a bit over dealer prices.

Yeah, from 96-On I believe are 4 sensors.

I too am in need of these as I'm throwing codes all over the place for this, 3 to be exact. RoverConnection had some pretty good prices.

Yup...96-99 D1's have 4 O2 sensors. Cheapest place to get them is Nathan at www.discountbritishparts.com or call him at (502)876-8377. I know he must love it when I give out his cell...
