Default Pulling Codes w/ Jump Wire

Can someone email a link with directions of how to, as well as code translations. Mine threw on a solid red check engine today. '98 D1 w/ 168k.

Thanks

Dealer will charge you at least 100 bucks to read your codes and shut off the light. AutoZone can read the codes for you but not all of them are willing to shut off the light.

Go get a Davis Carchip - 100 bucks @ www.ambientweather.com - might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere - it comes with the software too. It will read the codes, track your driving, and shut off the light...all for the price of what a dealer will charge you, except you only pay for it once!

A must have for rover owners.

There are some sites that will tell you the codes but I erased them all when I got a new computer. I will try to find them again.

Was the light red or gold? They mean two different things.

If it was gold/yellow: Use this site to plug in your codes = http://www.iequus.com/obd_def.asp

http://www.obd-2.com/ This one helps too.

AutoZone reads them for free, simply write them down.

If it was red (Service Engine Soon) then use this link: http://www.discoweb.org/reset/index.htm

K12,
RoverChic beat me to it. Those links she posted should get you going in the right direction.

K12 huh? "I want my $2.00!"...per John Cusak's paperboy...

Thanks for the help Lady and Gents. I will have to invest in the reader, although on fords and gm cars, you can just jump two contacts in the data port and the computer will spit out the codes.

I guess landrovers are a bit more invoved?
