With the disco 1 definately go the diesel the only electrical component on the motor is the fuel stop solenoid. As for the swivel pin housings if they are oil filled, check them,if there is oil on the floor under them, check them, change over to grease if you don't want to check them. My daughters boyfriend has a toyota celica a year or so ago I saw the left hand C.V joint rubber was split,so I told him, yesterday he told me his left hand C.V joint has to be replaced and is going to cost$300 who is at fault, crap car or slack maintainance.
