Recently I found that I have a head gasket coolant leak, I was going through a full resevoir of coolant every 2 weeks, so a cheap solution that worked was a Stop Leak. It plugged up the hole and the gasket no longer leaks. Its been over a month and everything was fine until a few days ago, whenever I turn on the AC the engine starts running hot. I checked the resevoir, its at the proper level. When driving as lightly as possible it doesnt over heat, in mild to moderate traffic the temp starts going up. Im thinking that its the two fans in front of the radiator that are going bad, sometimes they turn on/ off, but I could be very wrong. The radiator was replaced along with the water pump, and many various hoses around the engine around 60/70k miles (dont remember exactly) Im at 100,500 right now.
Any ideas? Thanks, Matt

Yeah those condensor fans can make or break the fact of your motor overheating.
When put mine on my truck, it hasen't overheated...but I ended up putting one fan on there cause I didn't have another to fit...so on a day like today, where it was goddamned HOT, the needle rose a bit. Right now at the dead of night it is hot and humid still.

Don't guess and continue to let it heat up, you will take out the head gaskets and or heads. Never put any stop leak in a Rover, you are just asking for huge problems.
The electronic fans should run pretty much all the time with the a/c on, if they don't start and stay on until you turn of the key, you have a problem. Mike |

The head gasket comes with a HUGE repair bill.. So much needs to be disassembled to fix that =/ Ill check if the fans are running continously with the AC on, if not, I'll know where the problem lies. Thanks guys.

Price isn't to bad if you can do the work yourself. It took me a day to take everything apart and then cleaned everything up and put back together the next. As long as you haven't overheated the thing your heads should be fine. Otherwise if you take it to a shop it will run around $1,500 to $2,000 for them to do the head gaskets which is still way better than replacing the entire engine. Dont skimp when it comes to issues like this.
