I have a hunch that my SRS is not connected Nor is my cruise control working. I pulled the steering column cover off and found two plugs disconnected. Can not for the life of me figure out where these two plugs go. Please take a look at the pics attached and let me know if anyone can figure this out for me. Also my tow light is on as circled int he pic. Can't figure that one out either. Any pointers on where to look?![]() |

I can't help you with the plug question, but I am curious how long you have ahd the truck and when did the lights come on? Also is does your truck have the wiring package convertor installed back in the r/r tail light panel, have you ever towed using the electrical wiring?

I have only had the rig for 3 months. Lights were on when I purchased it. I have no idea about the tow package converter and no I have not towed with it yet. I'll check in the R/R tail light panel. What am I looking for specifically? I figured one of those wires were for the cruise control that is on the steering wheel (set and resume buttons) and the other maybe for the SRS? Hopefully someone here will know.
Thanks for any input guys. Robert |

Robert,
Did you buy that truck from a dealer? If so, the SRS is a saftey item and should be taken care of by the seller. I doubt either of those plugs pertain to your problems and don't really need to be plugged into anything, manufactures do that alot. The SRS light light will come on for a number of failures, most common is the failure of the spiral ring behind the air bag in the steering wheel. The fact that the light is on doesn't mean it is going to pop, it probably won't work if you are in an accident and you should let someone check it. The control unit for the trailer wires can be found if you remove the r/r tail light and look down inside the wall. If you have the converter it will be plugged or attached to a large plug assembly in there. If you don't have one, I would say you have a short or ground problem. Mike |

Robert-
Mike is right about the code scanner, if you purchased your LR from a LR dealer, they should do it for free. On my last Range (2000) the trailer light came on due to a short in my boat trailer, the dealer said it was due to faulty wiring and the same would happen if it came on without the trailer, like a ground wire (Like Mike said) or a cut/stripped wire under the bumper. As for the extra wiring behind the air bag, Land Rovers are built standard issue to cover every country's requirement for anything, so your guess is as good as mine. I would say it is cruise control but you already got that, so who knows,,,only a service manuel from a dealership would be able to shed some light. And that won't be some "light" reading. |
