Question steering wheel vibrations..

hi everyone, hoping the experts will enlighten me on this new problem with my LRD1 1996 county model. the other day on the motorway i was freaked out for a while when the whole steeringwheel vibrates about 20mm in movements! so as soon as i took my foot of the gas n the truck losing speed it went off. i press the gas again to about the 100km/hr mark and the vibration again repeats itself. now i don't enjoy my ride at motorway speed. thank you in advance, cheers.

hmm...here are a few things to check...

Your Steering damper...was one of the first things I replaced on my truck (also a 96)

If you have a flex coupler at the rear of your rear drive shaft, that may need to be replaced to and will cause some annoying vibes while at highway speeds.

Check that the U-joints on your shafts are ok or grease them to see if that helps.

Make sure your tires are balanced properly.

You need to inspect the whole front end from the tie rods thru the pre load on the swivel joints, sounds like something is showing some wear.

Default So if At 65mph I hit a bump and the thing goes bonkers

It's a good possibity that the damper is shot???????????
Because as soon as you slow down to 45 it just quits!!!!
Strange!

not only check or replace the dampener but check the mounting bolts on the right side of the dampener as well, mine were loose and would shimmy at 60mph, new bolts and all is well [one bolt was actually missing}
