My initial idea to remove the stainless steel lug cap worked and revealed an undamaged lug nut. The guy who did my tire rotation literally wore them down to circles so I was afraid that the lug underneath was damaged. It was not.
I used some WD 40 carefully behing the lug cap (ensuring it didn't get on the cap itself) and wrapped a shop rag around it. Then I add Vice Grip and caveman intellect and Wala! SO this is definitly a more cost effective solution than paying $20 per lug from the local LR dealer. |

Yeah at that price I was considering scouring a salvage yard and trying to find something "compirable". I dont usually take short cuts when it comes to Rosey but I was looking for the exit ramp on this one.

hey glad it worked out...I will have to keep that in mind if mine are stripped again in the future.
Could you please post a picture of what they look like with the caps removed? |
