Default Swivel ball question???

Will be replacing my swivel balls soon as they are full of nasty pits in the chrome. My question is this, what is the difference between the chrome swivels and the black swivels? Are the black ones a replacement for the chrome to eliminate the pitting problem? What should I go with??? Also while I am in there what else should be replaced or looked for? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info.

Now, anyone know what is the differance between the black and chrome swivels? The black ones from Atlantic British are about fifty bucks cheaper a side than the chrome ones from RN! If the black ones aren't going to pit then I would go with those, anyone know?????

replace all seals and use landrover grease. It comes in a big green squishy package.

and take off the brake hose off the caliper and then pull the caliper assemby off as a whole. otherwise you bend an old line a little too much.

Hmm- maybe I'll pull those black swivel balls out of the metal dumpster and take a closer look at them...

Running oil in the swivels is 100% better than grease. You will have a lot longer life out of bearings and CVs with oil.

Landrover only used grease to stop the things leaking, not because it was better.

The one-shot stuff now is a nice "in-between" oil and grease and I've not been seeing lubrication related failures in the later Rovers running the grease instead of oil. I do see huge problems related to people with Series trucks running grease or manual hubs though.
