Default Temperature gauge

how can you tell if its working or faulty? mine seems to be fine at first. i start the truck and drive it , it slowly climbs to just under half way and thats it... no mater how i drive or what conditions it just does not move at all. is mine broken?

its a 96 se7 , i now its good to be steady but i expect it to warm up a bit in traffic or off roding. coolant is good and no weird noises. iv just read about these not working properly. and mine has been suspiciously under the halfway point

Take the wire off the sender and ground it, should read max then. The sender is on the front of the intake manifold with a single wire going to it, right next to the coolant temp sensor for the ECU that has 2 wires.

Rovers temp sensor are inaccurate and very slow to change, especially when climbing into the red. With an accurate gauge you would see that once your factory gauge starts to move into the hot area, it has already been there for a minute or so, so don't take what you see as real accurate.
