Question Transfer Case Lock-out Solenoid

So how does the lockout solenoid on the LT230 transfer case work and why does it make shifting into Low and Hi-Low Locked more difficult? Is removing it the only fix or is there anyway to improve its function?

I'm having a hard time engaging the Diff Lock both in Hi and Low.

Ha...guess it got scared of me thinking about taking the console off...tried it today and it went right in!

I did the whole drive in a circle thing to make sure it was working...it did fightinself a bit but I've got no light on the dash commin on.

Does anyone know if the light is suppose to work as soon as the lever is placed into the Low-Locked position or when the CDL is actually doin its thing?

Usually there is a bit of a delay with the light, at least on my truck. Especially when shifting out of diff lock. There's a little microswitch on top of the t-case that engages on the linkage inside. The console isn't hard to remove, its getting everything lined back up thats a PITA. When/if you do remove it, don't rivet the trans shifter back in place. Use sheet metal screws instead because sooner or later you'll have to remove it again.

I was wondering about that also, JC.

I have heard that some people replaced their solenoids when they failed and some either disconnected them one guy even removed it altogether.
