Hi Folks
got a question for you all. I have a stage 1 disco 3.9 V8, ran like a panther since buying her until about a month ago. When during a motor way run she started making a noise, now depending who you talk to depends on the description of the noise, (pinking, rattling or tapping) always when she's under pressure though. Put her into our trusted 4x4 garage, who diagnosised a faulty and lose vacuum advance, so dutifully gave them the go ahead to replace it. Went to collect her all excited to find out that yeah it was replaced and they couldn't hear any noises now,,,, soooooooooo disappointed to get her back on the road and hear the noise again. Apparently no noises present that landy's shouldn't be making,,,,, BUT SHE DIDN'T MAKE IT BEFORE????? Ok so i took her to our trusted non 4x4 mechanic, who found that she was over running and disconnected the newly installed vacuum advance, and now she's running much quieter except when doing 70 up a hill. Our non 4x4 guy noted that the vacuum advance has 2 ports where the pipe can be connected to but isn't sure which we should be using, so at the min its disconnected and idling at a far healthier rate, was still over 1000 revs per min with vacuum on, now well under that and sounding much sweeter. Any suggestions folks, i hate my BB being less than 100% by the way hi folks,,, i've got a cracking Java Black, S reg 3.9 V8 Series 1 Disco with leather interior and all mod cons,, and love her to bits,,, we call her BB which stands for a number of things including:- Black Beauty, Black Beast, Beautiful Beast, etc etc etc |
