Ok, so i drove my Disco up to Ohio this week to get her registered in my home of record state. The truck did well, it got 19mpg average, and only a few small problems occurred while traveling.
The one that made my stomach drop into my ass hole happened when i decided to double check that my horn was working. As soon as i hit my horn i saw the needle from the spedo drop from 75 to 0 and then right back up to 75. It continued to do this intermittently for about 15 - 20 min. I remembered seeing something on Dweb about the VSS doing this. On the way back from Ohio i had another stomach-into-ass thing happen. This time i was driving around 70 and the engine cut out and then right back on. Kind of like when an electrical governor kicks in. Again, after i got done shitting myself i remembered seeing something on Dweb about the VSS causing that too. Am i in the ball park with my troubleshooting? I still dont have a copy of the RAVE CD and I would rather burn my truck to the ground before i take it to a stealership. I can search the threads on how much of a pain in the ass it will be to change out the VSS. But any insight would be nice! Thanks!

Sounds like it could be the vss, if it is it is very easy to change and is located on the side of the tranny. If you do a search on here I am sure you'll find out more info related to the vss
