Question Want to remove the immobiliser on my old ECU

Hello all from me, Adam in NYC.

I am trying to fix something that is usually repaired only , unless recently, at a Land Rover dealership.

I bought a used 1996 D1 with a ECU that got damaged, thanks to a indy shop. The ECU does most of its functions fine but the circuitry that reads the four oxygen sensors is broken. Every 100 miles it will throw a Check Engine light.

After doing a swapout of all the oxygen sensors, the voltage readouts continued to to be ignored and are read zero by the ECU.

I subsequently purchased two used OEM ECUs ( & got 1 dead one for my trouble, thanks to a eBay vendor). When you do the ECU swapout, you can see the oxygen sensors operate and mark voltages on the OBD2 codereader.

Now, my quagmire. Land Rover designed the ECU to read off another box called BEUM (sic). You get two or more good startups and then the ECU reads the code off that box and the D1 wont start. Another term I have heard it called is the immobilizer.

I need at least one ECU resynced but would rather do two for the future.

Does any in the Northeast have access to a Testbook or clone for two or so hours?

At this point, I am even open to getting the Testbook CDs and make my own.

What I need done is to resync my ECUs so they can operate in my LR.

I am not interested in Land Rover trade secrets and don't wish to reverse engineer a 1996 ECU with a Texas Instruments CPU. I am just an owner of an new old Land Rover and want to work on it.

Any help would be welcome.
