I'm back! Had to get a real job and have been doing some heavy hours to get up to speed. I think that I'm settled into the new lifestyle now and can resume my extra curricular activities again.

This past week I starteg hearing a grinding sound coming from the engine. THough I was worried it was something horrible, it wurned out to be "just" the waster pump.

Now normally a break down like this would have grounded my Disco for the rest of the year due to parts availability and the cost of repair, last year while I visited my folks in the US I had the forethought of ordering a new pump and bringing it back with me.

Not only did I save a ton of time, I also cut about $400 from the repair. Plus, I had fun getting greasy.

Good work! Changing a water pump on a front facing engine (with lots of space) is one of the most pleasant jobs you can do. Did the same job on an old Ford pickup this year - what a breeze compared to some vehicles with sideways engines. Change that coolant every year or 2 at the most. Did you change the thermostat?
Well done on having the necessary parts on hand - especially in S. America.
