Yea thats just how it is. We have tons of jeeps over here so well us rover fanatics aren't fond of them however they are dirt cheap. Rover parts on the other hand are expensive and we love em. Just supply and demand. Are jeeps popular over there?

Yeah the Cherokee has been on sale since the early 90's and is fairly common place. Wranglers are bit more rare but there are some about, but very few modified ones.

Dealer backup is crap though, which is probably why Dodge/Chrysler have really been struggling in the UK.

My Dad has a 4.0 limited SE Cherokee auto, and I have to say it's nice. Kinda quirky inside. But it rides horrible and handles like a barge compared to a V8 Range Rover. Also not keen on the 4wd system as its not perminant 4wd.

I can see the potential and as a "street" biased car the rwd setup works well but stock for stock I'd say a Land Rover and many of the Japanese counter parts are way better in the dirt.

Modified, well thats a different matter entirly

I'm sorry but I have to second that!

Wish the same were true over here!

Don't forget about Rovers longer travel gas pedal for more precise offroading. The view from a Rovers' driver seat(especially the RRC) can't be beat by anything else out there. Also LR engines, trans, and X-fer cases are MUCH better waterproofed than Jeep.

Oh yeah, and the flex!!!

Many people say (everyone on this board) say Land Rovers are probably the most capable SUVs made, they were "designed for the trails"... even stock they can go amazing places other SUVs cannot. My question - why? What makes a Land Rover such a reliable off road vehicle? If they have a reputation for having alot wrong with them, why dont they just evaporate when taken offroad?

PS - I love my Disco, and im not doubting its capabilities, I just need some data and facts and info to show people, lol. thanks!

Anudder reason Land Rovers are so good is that you don't see many lifted/modified Rovers meaning that when U see one it like gets everyones attention. Where I live you see mercedes/bmw's/porsches/H2's/G-500/lifted jeeps and yotas and stock Rovers. All I am is a Disco on a lift with 265's and black alloys and everytime I steal the show. Just wait till I get rovertym stuff I'll really haul ass then. I can steal eyes from a bling out H2 or lifted yota anyday.
