Default What is the part called that surrounds the instrument cluster?

Best Buy broke the 2 pieces that hold the tabs that come out of the dashboard to hold that piece that goes around the instrument cluster- it is the 1/2 circle piece that you plug the rear windshield button, radio buttons, rear defrost etc etc into. I have seen many part catalogs and they show the piece, however: they never have a part # with it and the dealer said they did not make a replacement piece for that part- which I find really odd.
The radio guy at Best Buy tried to superglue the tab back on so that it would hold those 2 metal tabs in place, but they broke and now it squeaks and rattles. I need a beige one for a 1994 Disco I in great shape. I've asked around but no one has been able to help. Does any one know of another route to take in order to get this part? It only takes 2 screws to remove and the buttons so it shouldn't take more than 5 mins. But I just can't find one. Best Buy was installing my new factory radio and busted it and never told me. Now they are having me find the part and they'll pay for it and put it on.
Any help would be much appreciated.

It's called the instrument bezel. I have one here in stock. The upper mounts are perfect and the two screw holes for the lower mounts have a small bit of wear but will hold if you use washers. Let me know what you think.

This looks like exactly what I need. Mine is in excellent shape- minus the 2 tabs in the back.
What are you asking for it? It doesn't have to be shipped really fast.
I couldn't find it in your eBay store.
Thank you

My eBay Store reflects only a portion of what I have on hand. It is always worthwhile to contact me if you are looking for an out of the ordinary part like this. Typically, in my eBay Store, this would be $29.99 plus shipping. Since there are no eBay fees involved, if you would like it you can have it for $25 plus shipping. If you would like me to calculate the cost of shipping from CT send me your zip code.
Thanks,
Paul

This is to 44305 - Akron, OH.
I am also looking for a front pass. brake caliper. Do you have a good one of those for a good price to ship along with the other part?
Best Buy is paying for the bezel - so please feel free to charge me full price- they have to reimburse me for the damages and I wish I knew what a brand new one would cost just to be able to let them know! The part that upset me is they had to of known they broke it and didn't bother to tell me- plus the cracked the black piece under the radio and didn't bother screwing down my amp!
Nice folks- rotten work

Let me know about the caliper and the ship costs.
thanks again

Unless I can tell that a caliper is relatively new and the pistons are rust free, I usually offer them for rebuilding or as cores. If you want one I can let you have one for $20 but I would probably rebuild it before I used it. I will bring one back from the shop later today and put up photos of it so that you can make up your mind.

sounds good- we can work on the caliper- we tried to make the one we have now work but it is still sticking a bit.
We put in a stepper motor from the Astro and it was running fine- but now it is acting worse than it started.
Do you have a used stepper motor for a '94 in good shape too? mine is still stalling, it's like the gas was just shut off in a second and now she won't start up right away like she used to... i am out of ideas.
Thanks

Bill,
We're good on the indicator lamp. I'm just glad it came back to me so quickly.

Used Blue,
The caliper I took of off the DI I just finished up with is looking pretty bad. The photo is below. If you don't mind the freight, you can have it at no charge. However, I would prefer to send the caliper in a separate box. I would hate to see the bezel destroyed by a heavy caliper sliding around in the same box.

As far as stepper motors are concerned, I have a box of used, tested units for $20 each. I can include one in your package. I can even include the cost of the stepper in with the cost of the bezel so that Best Buy pays the bill!

Shipping for the bezel/stepper is $10.15 and shipping for the caliper is $13.45. Send me your PayPal email address and I can generate an invoice for you. You can take it to Best Buy and have them reimburse you.
Thanks,
Paul

Thank you for getting back with me so quickly.
I will definitely take the stepper along with the bezel. My email address for paypal is usedblue@neo.rr.com.
I will ask the guy that does my brakes if he can use the caliper and make it good again- I will forward the pics to him.
I am wondering though if the Paypal invoice will show the stepper in with the bezel and Best Buy will say something. Is there a way to leave that info out since it isn't through ebay? Like maybe just put the words 'Discovery Instrument Bezel' somewhere on that invoice for proof of that purchase so we can print it out and hand it to them?
I just hope the Astro Van's stepper is what's causing this new problem with the idle- I hate to just keep changing parts around.
I will pay the invoice when it comes up and let you know about the caliper if he can work with it.
Thanks again!
oh yeah, thanks for the e-brake too- you mailed me one with a hole in the boot a couple weeks ago and then you mailed a whole other one out quickly. I will be coming to you more often for parts.

Your invoice has been sent. It reflects a total of $55.15. That amount includes the bezel, stepper motor and shipping by DHL. There was no mention of the stepper motor so you should have no problem with that amount when you give Best Buys the invoice.
Thanks,
Paul

Oh, that was you I sent the wrong e-brake handle to! Sorry about that. I literally have a box of them on hand. They were all supposed to have been checked. Nevertheless, I should have double checked before shipping.

You know, I used to sell denim and contemporary mens sportswear back in the '80's. I lived and worked in the garment district in NYC for quite a number of years before moving to the wilderness of Litchfield County, CT.

Not a problem!! It only counts if it wasn't fixed and you fixed it more than what we expected!
it is a really nice part!
I will pay the invoice today- just ship them when you can.
thanks again!
