On a GEMS engine ('97 D1)- who knows what resets when the battery is disconnected for a relatively short period of time (30 min)? Something in the ECM, the security system, or within the adaptive parameters? Looking for specifics. Thanks.
i know it throws a p1684 code on obd2 so inspection stations know you may be trying to cheat a check engine light. this code last about 80 miles and will not cause the light to light up, thats all i really know about that
I know the stereo locks up... just went thru this myself, when I replaced my battery, the stereo went into theft mode and asked for a security code. Just bought the thing so had no paperwork, books etc so had to call Land Rover dealership nearby. They gave me the code after I proved I owned the truck. I had to reset everything cause I tried to fake a code more than twice, this entails turning the ign key to 'on' and leaving it for almost 2 hrs (LR told me 2.5 hours, but it worked after about 1 3/4) then you are allowed to enter the code. Not sure if anything else resets, everything else works in mine.
