Coming home last night... An Acura was hit on the hwy and lost control and slid over into my lane. It was raining and there was no stoping. I only had time to figure out where I wanted to hit the Acura. I picked the rear panel and actually took the trunk off like a sardine can. After the accident I pulled over the side of the road and looked at the Acura. I could stand at the rear of the car and look from where the rear bumper should have been and see the dash. The back of the car was torn away!
I barely even felt the impact... I knew it happened and I certainly heard it. I drove the Rover home.. about 4 miles at 35-40 mph. Any faster than that, the steering got pretty squirrely. Needless to say the Acura was hauled away. I even drove the Rover to work today. I looked her over pretty good and the front clip is pushed back on the psgr side. The radiator is not damaged at all but it was pushed back. The psgr side fender is pushed back into the psgr door. The rear arm is bent as well as the new big blue spring on the psgr side is off the mount. The new Procomp shock is smashed from the spring but the damn thing still works!!!! Here the pics from my car. I did not have a camera the time so I dont have any of the acura... believe me, the Acura is no more! I am pretty concerned about the leak I developed at the front diff. As well as I beleive the steering gear box has been stripped. F#$@

UGH!
Sorry to see that your truck was damaged in such a freak accident. I am glad that everyone is OK. I hope the vehicle has not suffered any chasis damage. After the Acura's party has accepted responsiblity, I hope you find a good body shop to fix your truck.

Sorry to hear about your accident, but glad your okay. With regards to the leak coming from the diff, have you located exactly where it's coming from. Probably just needs a new seal.

Dude! I'd guess the accident started the leak, but from where? What is it, oil, coolant, steering fluid? Looks like some of it evaporated. Maybe it cryed when you parked her. I hope you're not still driving it with the steering tweaked.
There's probably some hidden damage with twisted parts.![]()

I am still waiting on the insurance. It is going to be covered under my own insurance... since the initial impact was caused from a hit and run. That Acura was hit and spun into my lane but the person that hit him took off. It seems my uninsured motorist policy will be kicking in.
I am worried to death they will total it. If the words "total" even so much as leak from his mouth all hell will break out. Of course, if it is I think I might just have to go down and buy me another and keep this one for spare parts. As for the diff leak... I think you are right, might be a gasket. Here are some more pics from under the truck... I think something is bent.

Dude....you "THINK" something is bent.....LOL! Yeah it looks to be. I just read your post, sorry to hear about things, glad you are ok! Keep us all updated for sure! I have never claimed anything on un-insured motorist. Let us know how that turns out! If they do give you money, make sure you spend it wisely!
If they total it....buy it back and fix it yourself! More money for mods....maybe![]()

Well, the final word is in... "It will cost more to repair than replace".
My first offer from the insurance company was 6090.00 minus 500.00 deduct. and when they get the police report and it shows the 3rd party hit and run, they will send me another check for 250.00 as a reimbursement of half my deductible. I guess the initial check will be 5590.00 (plus the 250.00 later). Do you think 5840.00 for a 98 land rover disco is fair? I have looked high and low and can not find another 98 Land Rover for that money. This is just making me sick...
