Been reading all your threads,it's funny how you stop and say hey mine's doing that! I also hear clicks and what sounds like metal creaking,I just thought that's the way they all were!When they heat up.I just changed my steering pump and got used to the sound of my bearing rattling but now with the new pump and new serpentine belt I hear a whirr,I checked all the pulleys and oiled them,even moved the shroud around but it still does it! Any ideas,appreciate it,RJ 97 disco1 lse{whatever that stands for!},ome spring/shock,bilstein steering damper,new ties,yak pipe racks,brush bar w/fogs,side steps {want to lose and get sliders}

When you say you replaced the power steering pump, is it a new factory unit or a used one or a rebuilt? Old power steering pumps seem to always have their own personality - I've replaced many that I scrounged from bone yards in many trucks, mostly Fords, and each one sounds different. If this is a new whiney pump, take it back and let the supplier hear it.

thanks for the imput,pump is a remanufactured piece,works fine,turns out my new serpentine belt probably needs some breaking in,I was so used to hearing the bearing noise I guess I'm not used to the sound of a normal running engine!! But the the noise is there,my mechanic says give it a few weeks to break in {like shoes!!}
