Default Window ECU

Will the window ECU from a '93 Rangie fit my '96 D1?

Yeah, it's the same. Can anyone tell me where the window ECU is on the rangie so I can pull it? Thanks!

Isn't the power window ECU on a Disco up under the dash below the air bag. If so, it doesn't look anything like the power window ECU for a pre-soft dash RRC. Isn't that ECU under the cubby box and shaped more like the Bulb Check Unit? That's not to say that you couldn't do an exotic wiring job to get it to work but I think it's doubtful it's an easy swap.

How do you know it's the same if you haven't even seen it? The one I have from my 1994 was entirely different that the one I had in my 1996 Disco.

BTW, the RRC Power Window Lift ECU is under the cubby box.

PRC9949 is the part number for the ECU in my 1994 RRC while the ECU for the 1996 Disco is AMR1282. They don't even look remotely alike. Where did you get the part number for the 1993 RRC?

Atlantic British - looked on their web site and it is the same part for the RRC and the D1. I spoke to them yesterday while ordering some other parts and they confirmed it.

That may be what they said but I have the parts here in my hand. The only ECU that would have been interchangeable would have been the one from the 1995 RRC. I've had plenty of RRC's over the years and while the ECU under the cubby has grown in size thanks to the "one touch" feature, they look nothing like the ECU found in a 1995 RRC or any Disco I've dug into.

Well, I guess we'll see! I'll let you know next weekend when I do the job!

I just looked at their website and that ECU is only for a 1995 RRC. There are two separate connections on that ECU while the ECU in your 1993 will have only one. They are entirely different. I'll try and post a photo of the ECU in my 1994 so you can see the difference.

Again, maybe if you are an electrical wizard you may be able to get the ECU to work in your Disco but I still think it's doubtful.

Microcat only pulls up the AMR1282 when you do a search on 'lift ecu' regardless of year- I'll bet that's why they came back with it. I did the same thing- but the paper version of the parts book appears to list diffferent ones from the software.

I've owned a couple of '92's (their ECU was smaller than the '93 & '94), a couple of '94's and a '95 RRC and I know what parts I have in my hands. The Window Lift ECU's are different, not only in pin pattern but in the number of actual connections ('93 & '94 have one while the '95 RRC & '96 Disco have two). Maybe with some wizardry Rover X could get the ECU from the '93 he is parting out to work with his '96 Disco but I seriously doubt it.
