My passenger side window rolls up and down fine, but when i roll it up, its like a regulator or something doesn't tell the motor to stop, and you can hear the gears slipping or whatever it is...sounds like "pop pop pop" etc...
any ideas? on ya and my passanger seat will move any direction but backwards...(power seat) |

It is time for a new window regulator, yours is about to die.
I would suggest you track down a new one and not use the window much just incase it fails leaving you with a window that won't roll up when needed. Mike |

I need to do the same with my right rear. How easy is the replacement. Looks like I can pick up the regulator for about $85
Thanks

Yes your window regulator is about to let you down. I bet the plastic roller has a crack or has separated from the mount, one of the scissor arms is probably slightly bent not giving you full extention, so the motor runs on. As for the seat you probably need to clean the contacts of the switches that are just behind the panel that is the seat buttons. Use a good fine wire brush to clean and grease the clean contacts with silicon to prvent oxidation. If that doesn't work you are goiing to have to track down the wires from the switch to the motor. I have had both these problems and they were fixed with the above applications.
One note, I drive pretty fast in the desert sometimes in Mexico and Anza and if you leave your windows down while driving washboard surfaces, you might as well order new windo regulators before you go, because it will eat them for sure.

The regulator is not that hard to replace, you might check out
http://www.roverconnection.com/ for a replacement or go to Atlantic Britsh, both should have pretty good prices on them. Mike |

kelli: you have to open up the inside door panel to access the regulator. I discovered one way to make these lousy regulators last much longer - when you send the window up or down, don't let the window 'embed' itself in the rubber weatherstrip. Let go the switch just as the window reaches the weatherstrip at the top or descends to the door at the bottom. This stops the regulator from 'bottoming out. or 'topping out' hard against the stops.
These LR window mechanisms are crap and should have been offered only as an option (as were the sunroofs and power seats). You can retro fit manual (crank) front window mechanisms, but getting them out of England can be a bugger. In the end, you probably just learn to live with these electric ones. If you keep your truck but want to get rid of the LR regulators, there are domestic electric mechanisms available from the HotRod market. |

Hi Mike....PAVEL...what are the chances of both window regulators going out on the back windows at the same time? Does that happen..or just MY luck? Disco Mike...do you remember that link you sent me about the back windows? I can't find that again. ..and I'm trying to get them to work. Do you think it's the regulators that may be junked out....? The one suggestion you sent me was a part located under the glove box or something. I just can't find this *&*@! I WANT MY WINDOWS TO WORRRRRRKKKK!!!!!!!!! PAVEL...if I can't get these fixed w/out costing an arm and a leg...I may have to go retro. OR.....Dukes of Hazzard... That'd be fun...![]() |

Kelli,
You need to have your brother use a tester probe to verify the regulator is not getting voltage then replace the ECU that controls them. I'll bet they are both fine, your ecu took a dump. Mike |

Kelli: follow Disco Mike's advice and approach this problem methodically. Try not to fall into the trap of replacing everything only to discover later it was not necessary. Cheers.
