I'm just venting my unhappiness with the direction that TATA is taking with Rover. They turned the new Discovery into a Budget Range Rover. In doing so, they killed the Land Rover brand and in my opinion, shot themselves in the foot with the Range Rover crowd. They totally diluted the upscale vibe of the Range Rover by making a mini-me version. In fact, I can't tell one from the other in the lineup, aside from the full size Range Rover and the Evoque. And the names? Confusing. And if it confuses me, as an enthusiast, what does it do for the average guy shopping SUV's. But hey, it's TATA's billions, not mine. And I wasn't going to buy a new one anyway. I just ordered a new Tahoe.
Agree that the model names and features are somewhat confusing. I believe customizing like what has happened with the LR3 and LR4 will be important for this model to set it apart.

Here is another Land Rover dealer build with a Johnson Rod 1.5 inch lift and 275-55-20 Goodyear DuraTrac MT's (31.9 inches),roof rack and black powder coated wheels.
There may be room to go 285-55-20 and I want to check that out next. I would like to see more of a safari type rack.

The Silicon Silver does look nice. Are you going with the same black wheels?

I went with silver and silver roof rails...couldn't convince the wife that black wheels looked good. Would rather have black wheels for off-roading since it would be easier to touch them up. I personally think they look great. Didn't get the black roof either as it forces you to get 21" wheels.

Wish the graphite gray was an option in the 20's.

Silver with Black roof is the way to go with this more futuristic design look. I like the 275 55 20's, but again it needs mud flaps to complete it.

Discovery 5 lift kit

I prefer this 275-55-20 which is about 32 inches. The tire shown here is the Goodyear DuraTrac MT:
Johnson Rod 1.5 inch Kit installed by Land Rover dealer on showroom vehicle. This upgrade has been very popular.

Discovery 5 vs LR4

Discovery 5 vs LR4 Specs. You can see that the D5 has more ground clearance and a better approach angle than the LR4.
With a 1.5 inch Jonson Rod lift it will be much better.

Get larger tires with a 1.5 inch Discovery 5 lift kit from Johnson Rods.
This dealer showroom model using our kit has 275-55-20 Mud Terrain tires.
