Hand brake problem

Greetings everyone. I recently had new brake pads fitted with censor's but a week later I had funny & squeeky sound which I suspect its handbrake issue previously, I drove without using a brake pad is it OK for me to disable it ( handbrake) completely? When I tried to drive off a squeeky noise sounded - the rear right tyre bust the rim. Any ideas please. Land rover Discovery 3 2006
