RRS s/c Occasional Grinding Noise when turning

2007 Range Rover Sport Supercharged modified for green laning in respect of 18” Alloys AT Tyres and slight lift via Johnson rods .

I am experiencing an occasional grinding noise when turning left or right at moderate speed typically at islands. It almost feels like the 18” alloys are catching at it can be felt through the steering wheel however this is definitely not the case as the wheels have been checked and are not rubbing on the balancing strips or the repositioned anti squeal blocks.

My local mechanic has said it could be the transfer box but cannot be certain and has suggested I continue using the vehicle until the problem gets worse.

It is possible to live with the problem at the moment as the fault only occurs occasionally when changing direction.

If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

If it is a groaning noise (instead of grinding), it might be low power steering fluid.
