V8 To TD5 converted d2

Hey all, been lurking for years and just joined. Over the years I've seen lots of posts about diesel conversions. And usually the response is that it can't be done! My rig is a td5 converted 2002 d2 and I live in the USA. I made this thread so that if anyone is in the process of trying to ditch the V8 and wants any help, feel free to PM me. My truck was a 2002 V8 D2. It now runs a TD5 mated to the V8 automatic. It drives like stock, everything works. As for power, in terms of straight line acceleration it's about like a 4.6, except I get 28mpg with 33's...

Stock the TD5 makes 130hp and 225 torque. But they can be easily and heavily modified for much more power. TD5inside who tuned my ecu said that with my mods I should be making 200hp and 380ft lbs. Not to shabby for a 2.5 inline 5 diesel. Probably my favorite thing about it is the surge of torque at 2000 rpm. It's addicting. As is the sound of a turbo spooling up through the snorkel. Also, this isn't a clunky diesel that revs to 2500rpm. The TD5 revs to 4850rpm and feels meant to be in the d2. The 5cyl turbo also sounds incredible with a straight pipe. The engine was purchased on eBay, along with the ecu and harness ect. not sure what section I should be in or how active this forum is, so mods feel free to move it. Thanks, -mike

Ps, not sure how to post pictures or video, let me know.

Hi, believe me or not, i know exactly what's what with Td5's and my advice is FOC as i dont sell anything for profit... fit an EGT gauge ASAP for that setup you have, an additiojnal ECT gauge to see the real engine temp would be good as well... then after you'll see the EGT above 750 and ECT above 100*C all the time which means your lovely running engine will die ''young'' we'll speak then.

My friends call me Fery

2000 Discovery Td5 ES manual

Hawkeye v.6, Nanocom EVO,
VDM UCANDAS, oscilloscope

if you think my english is peculiar it means you didnt hear my japanese

ALL MY ADVICES ARE BASED ON MY OWN KNOWLEDGE AND MY WAY OF UNDERSTANDING THE DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION OF SYSTEMS... I'M NOT A LAND ROVER TRAINED SPECIALIST JUST AN ADDICTED ENTHUSIAST.

The transmission will have a reduced life as well. People who go for a moderate power boost through reprogramming the ECU only get around 100,000 miles from a transmission instead of the usual 200,000 miles.
