2001 P38 slow acceleration

When I start moving forward my acceleration is great, then it shifts quickly in to 2nd gear then 3rd but it seems very slow to speed up but finally shifts in to 4th and will easily go to 70-75 mph no problem. If I give it more accelerator when it is poking around in 3rd gear it does not seem to help it speed up any. ?????

Change the gearbox oil once, go for a ride to make it shift through all gears more times, then change oil again and the filter

Agreed, change transmission oil a couple of times, consider adding Lucas transmission fix (additive in small bottle) it always seems to help my ‘00 D2. When you’re checking trans oil level, be sure to have the engine idling in “Park”
