2006 range rover sport tailgate wont open

2006 range rover sport tailgate wont open.
I looked at the lr3 and lookes like its different inside from the rrs.
I have opened the top part of the trunck but can not open the bottom.
I have part of the plastic trunck punel off so i can see everything inside but can not see where the cable would be located.
Please help the dealer gave me an estimate of $781.
Thank you in advance.

So when you buy this suv brand new its like $65,000(high end suv), yet they can not desighn a menual release cable on the inside.
I have an 05 corvette and there is an emergency release for both doors and the trunck.
You would think that land rover would stend up and do something about it when so many people have the same problem and not charge over $500 to fix this stupid cable that for some people only lasts 3 month.

Did you try shutting the upper hatch then pushing on the lower tailgate hard to the closed position and then pressing the release button?

Yes i did try both pushing and pulling.
It worked once before when it got stuck so i had to push hard and then it opened.
That was about a week ago.
But like i said i did go to the dealer first they told me it would be around $350 but then they called me and told me $781.
So i said no thank you and took the car back and then still charged me $151.
Also they took my girlfriends new driver sighn and lost the opener rubber and scrached the trunck.
So much for high end service.
Im so mad right now.
I hope some one got some edvice for me.
Thank you

They some times get in spot where both latches thank they are open and wont work. They have a electric conector under the drivers seat that only has the wires to the rear hatch in it. IF you apply 12 volts to ether one of these wire it will release that latch for that wire. Hope this helps some of that pushing or slaming on it still doesnt work.

The latches tend to receive water damage. Being a fully electric design, there is no other way to open it aside from damaging the interior panel.

This does work but on right hand drive the wires are located under the passenger seat the block connector has two wires in and out, just energise the spades and this does release the tail gate.

When I look under the seat of my US range rover sport HSE I see what looks like a computer box under both seats with multiple cables and connections. I need to know how to find the rear tailgate release cables any help out there? I desperately need to open the tailgate!! I find it unfathomable that Land Rover has not addressed this, fixed it or supplied an aftermarket solution.
