DII A pillar outside trim

I have had the passenger side A pillar trim break on my Discovery. I also notice that the one on the drivers side has a small crack at the top where the punch out tab is and it seems loose, so I am thinking one or more of the tabs under are broken also. Are these cosmetic? What is the down fall of driving without them? Will it cause a water leak in rain or driving in rain?

Well I had a white disco and when the A-pillar came off as I was driving down the interstate, it left long black scratches down the side of the car. It's a cheap fix. Less than $100 for the part.

is it cosmetic?

Yeah I was was trying to figure out if other than looking bad if there was a down side other than the increased wind noise.
