Discovery 2 Aluminum Coolant Reservoir Tank with Level Sensor Switch

Yes..... you know you want one:

https://www.allisport.com/shop/perfo...sender-switch/

Read it and Weep gents. I am the FIRST member to get one.

Out of all the hundreds of comments from members over the years on both forums. I am the FIRST member to get one.

This thing is awesome. 100% aluminum .. glass sight (the cheap plastic coolant tank makes it somewhat difficult to see when your running straight water) and a float level sensor .. Coolant drops below the level ... and the light comes on in the dash ...

You could have got the better quality and cheaper priced tank from CARRS4x4 out of Cali for $250.
And it has a sight glass on the front of it and comes with an aluminum T fitting. No float level switch tho.

This has been on my wish list for a long time.

Last time I needed a coolant reservoir, the brits were out of stock and no eta on availability.

Thanks Juke for the alternative.
And that T is a big bonus.

My buddy and Mechanic from Cars4X4 designed it. He is an awesome LR3 mechanic. That's where we go if we need anything done on our LA LR3.

Yes Cars 4x4. They are superior. For sure.

I mean hey ... sure they don't have a float level sender switch that connects to the dash.... But still ... they are the best. We all know it. So you should've gotten your tank from Cars 4x4 because .... well ... hey man look ...we all know each other .. and they're friends of ours.... So obviously their quality is better than Allisport...

And that T is a big bonus.

You are correct about the Brits being out of of stock. I waited forever for Allisport to manufacture an aluminum radiator months actually... and they were always out of stock. I could'nt wait anymore and was forced to purchased an E-Bay knock off. Didn't want it but could'nt wait. Ironically the Chinese Rad was destroyed when my fan exploded so I guess it was for the best since Allisport cost 3 x as much. They have stock now I think. They moved into a larger facility and hired people. I think this put a temporary hiccup on production.

Also about that T connection ... I would like to buy that if I didn't have to use an allen key every time. The plastic I have now I can actually use my fingernail to remove. If anyone has a T connection that has a flat head I would like to buy it ...

I'm actually wondering if the aluminum tank and T connector used together could bring down the temp by 1/2 degree.

So, what's the big deal? Why would I need this over the plastic overflow tank I have now? It looks cool? Surely there's a real benefit. Mine doesn't leak and it's cheap to replace if it ever does. My T is new - it came with the hose. So it is pretty but I don't care what it looks like under the hood.

Have you ever had occasion to use your Remote+Hardwired License Plate Concealer; are these legal in your state?

Discretely, yes. Legality is use dependent. It's 100% legal on all private property including malls and private-public parking lots where police mass scan license plates.

It is illegal on all public roads and highways.

Plastic cracks. An Aluminum tank never needs to be replaced and dissipates heat better than plastic. This also has a sight glass and electronic float level sensor that connects to your dash to warn you if your system is leaking coolant.

Allisport UK is the only manufacturer offering this product. Cars 4x4 does not offer this product.

@WLADiscoII99 ... you might want to tighten up those sight glass allen screws on the Allisport tanks.
Some Disco 2 owners have reported coolant leaks from the sight glass area.

FYI for others... There is a BMW coolant tank part # 17111712641 for a BMW E30 (late '80's / early '90's 3 series / '88-'93 model E30's and some 5's and M cars specifically *1990 BMW 325i) which is identical to the Disco 2 coolant tank and it clips straight in. The difference being it has a low coolant sensor part # 61311378320 built into it and you need to splice the V8's throttle body heater hose to it. Another plus is that the max level mark is on the front rather than at the side. It is a much higher quality tank.

What? These are very high quality. These don't leak. Allisport $350 USD with tax and shipping and has a lifetime warranty.

Allisport is the most expensive item on the market. I am paying for quality. Highly doubtful it will leak.

That item looks allot better than the stock tank. But it's made out of plastic. It will eventually crack. Why not just spend the extra money to get an aluminum tank that will last the lifetime of the vehicle and save more in the long run.

Great info thanks!!!
So awesome to add a low level sensor, it can save your D2, its a matter of how to install the sensor warning to your dash. Has anyone done this. I can delete the throttle body heater in the Caribbean not needed.

Hello All,
That’s a sweet looking tank. I replaced all things related to coolant system last year.
My next purchase will be this Coolant Expansion Tank Cap Level Gauge & Light
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Land-Rover-...t/272405168306

I hope all the post can help us keep our trucks on the road for a long time.

Thanks for sharing
