A new gas cap didn't work? AutoZone sells Disco 2 gas caps.

The Disco 1 has a locking gas cap but I don't know if it will fit a Disco 2

Maybe someone could help. I couldn't find a locking gas cap from them online.

Does the Discovery 2 have a special size?

Gotta find a new mechanic to work on something .. Need to get this cap on the vehicle to make sure they can't pour water or bleach into my fuel tank.

I think that most sites have the 1999 Discovery model listed as a Disco 1 instead of a Disco 2.

Neon yellow?????? Good luck! Lol

Here's a Duralast locking screw type cap (not yellow tho) for a Disco 2...

Why would you be worried about that? Why would they do that?

Thanks. yes I found those but now I'm determined to get yellow. Am painting my Rover all midnight black and wanna make it black with little bits of yellow. Found a really good honest mechanic in Vegas (thank God) who is painting my calipers yellow and installing new yellow ECS brake pads. Afterwards am gonna get it painted black at MAACO and this things gonna look so frikken bad ass.

Fuel cap = Too many bad experiences with mechanics. Just talked to a guy who swears his mechanic put something in his gas tank. That gave me the idea to get a locking gas cap.

Just this year - Dropped off Rover at one of the mechanics in Vegas that was recommended on this website. They were absolutely full of BS... Worst people I've ever verbally dealt with. Attitude insufferable, rules so rigid, I refused to let them work on it even though I needed lots of stuff done.

I left my car overnight after sharply arguing on the phone. When I picked it up there was a cylinder 7 misfire and it appeared the #7 spark plug boot had been tampered with. After blowing it out and reapplying dielectric grease the Cylinder #7 misfire is disappeared. Now if I call them back ... they will just deny it and claim it's because I had a BCU issue.

It's been years and years of this.

All the mechanics know Rover has a bad reputation and can capitalize on that. They know if you have an older Rover that you have money to dump into it.

It's been 15 years - one negative experience after the next. I've installed 6 cameras + 1 under the hood. Plus I have enough knowledge of the car over years of studying and reading this website and working on it myself. But I cannot do the really serious work myself. Or don't want to waste my time on it. So need need an honest mechanic.

I don't even care about price anymore. Just honestly. I know there are honest people out there and if I could find even one I would give them all my business forever. But like it said it's been 1 bad experience after the next.

Everything from refusing to honor the work, putting used parts on my car when I say no (refusing to install new customer parts then using used parts and telling me they are new), filling it with orange Dex when I say no, busting my water pump, sabatoging my speedometer, slicing my hose with the fan (this may have been why my fan blow up I don't know) to make it overheat, putting used airsprings on from a junkyard that blow out 6 months later, overfilling my oil 3-4 inches above the fill line. Replacing easy things that don't need fixing. Putting used bolts on my front drive shaft, insisting I need to replace the WABCO ABS to get rid of 3 amigos and pay them $3000. popping off all the wheel bolts using the power gun instead of the hand tool .. ... then claiming that is normal for them all to break. One guy in Florida has a British flag and a sign that says BRITISH AUTO REPAIRS ... and doesn't even know how to properly take off the wheel bolts... The other guy in Florida raving about how cool the car looks and wants to pay me "$5000" cash (what a joke). Then he try's to sabatoge it out the shop. Recently the Land Rover dealer quoted me over $3000 in repairs for things that were not needed - afterwards I fixed car myself with $100 in used parts off Ebay and reading these forums. I stood there and watched a guy in Los Angeles mixed and dump gravel dirt or some type of kitty litter into the guys cooling system.

I have literally found 2 honest Rover mechanics in 15 years.
