need part number for left-rear door handle link

hey all,

like all of us discovery owners do from time to time, i found myself replacing a faulty door lock assembly on the left rear door. much to my chagrin, the little link that connects the exterior door-pull to the latch assembly slipped into the recess of the door. it was a one in a million shot that landed it deep into the crevice where the door panel flares outward, at the top of the wheel arch. i fussed with it for an hour trying to get it out, but it's now invariably wedged in there and doesn't even rattle when i shake the door.

whatever, i'll buy a new one...

but i cannot locate this part number to order... i've found a few which *may* be it, but there are no pictures to verify.

does anybody know the correct name and/or part number of the little linkage that connects the door-pull to the latch assembly? it's about 3" long, one end is an L shape and the other is a kind of Z shape.

thanks in advance!

Here is a pic of the one for the back door, passenger side on my '99DII. I finally had to loosen part of the window frame to get it installed. I made one from a coat hanger but a real one came in the mail before I installed it - so I will never know if it would have worked; looked like it would work fine.

i thought about making one from some metal, but the metal was bending and the original piece did not bend at all... i was worried that eventually it would give up.

instead, i used the metal to fashion a tool to scrape the piece out!
