PROBLEM SOLVED!
I cut a pigtail for the inertia switch from a donor truck, and added length to reach the engine fuse box. Then with much trepidation, I sliced into the harness where the two wires met the fuse box. I made a temporary connection with my two wires and the truck started right up with no hazards. I can only assume that an animal got into the harness somewhere and bit a circuit open. Now I have to clean it up and weather proof everything, but what a relief! Big time thank you to Sierrafery for your help!
