Question Will 33" BFG Tires fit a stock Disco II?

Got a pretty good deal on some 33" tires but what all would have to be done to put on my stock 2000 disco II? Don't comment if you have something rude to say please. It's just a question. Thanks !

for street use you can get away with some rubbing but i think they will rub to much off road when articulating

I'm going to say no. I tried to put 32" tires on my '03 with old worn out suspension. They didn't fit.

'03 Discovery- front driveshaft rebuilt, OME 751 & 762 w/ Terrafirma HD Shocks, ProComp 265/75 16 Mud Terrains, 4.11 HD gears, Rear Detroit, rear 1.5" spacers, F & R diff guards

No chance in hell.
If you want big tires and are going off road, do a 2 to 2.5" lift and the tires will work and your truck will handle so much better.

Why not throw a 3" lift on your truck and enjoys those tires?

I'am considering the BFG KM2's just need to decide between these two.....

Any input would be greatly apriciated.

09130 LT285/70R18/E 127 Q RWL 7.5" - 9.5" 11.5" on 8.5" 33.7
31489 LT305/60R18/E 121 Q RWL 8.5" - 11" 12.2" on 9" 32.6

the 285's is a bit tall and the 305's is a bit wide.... but there is no 18" in between.

What are you going to be using it for and what other modification are you planning on to handle the bigger tire size?

I run 265/65/18 tires with a 2" lift, and they fit well. Not sure if you can find that size in what you're looking at or not... I did have to add wheel spacers to keep from rubbing the radius arms. (could have adjusted the steer stops, but wanted the best turning radius I could get.)

2004 Discovery II- 2" lift w/RTE HD springs and OME Nitro shocks, AT3 265/65/18, D1 rear spring seats, OME steering stabilizer, Slickrock Fab front sway bar disconnects, TW front driveshaft, rear diff guard, steering guard, extended steel brake lines, 25mm wheel spacers, OEM winch tray with VR10000 and Amsteel synthetic line, SD rack and 4 Ralley 3000 lights. STI wires and a bunch of new gaskets, 90k service done...

Toyo 33/12.5/18 Tires for Disco2

Does OME have a 2", 2.5" or 3" lift for the Disco2? I can only find 1.5". If not, any recommendations of other brands? With that said, do you think the Toyo 33/12.5/18 will fit?

I have the tires and rims already that was suppose to go on a Landcruiser that I sold. Trying to see if I can get them on the Disco and what it will take in size lift without cutting anything. If it is impossible or too costly, I'll have to just get new tires for the rims and go with the OME 1.5 or bigger lift. Need guidance please.

Regards,
Sean

I can't imagine toyota rims fitting but i guess you could make anything work with adapters or something. There are definitely bigger lifts; terrafirma for one, adding spacers another, but you have to replace radius arms and drive shafts as well as springs and shocks once you go above 2", or you'll have suspension geometry and clearance issues. You're also straining the drivetrain turning those big tires; should upgrade axle shafts or entire diff assy.'s. -Unless you're just mall crawling; then it doesn't really matter; just lift to suit and cut what you need to turn corners.

Thank you. The rims are aftermarket XD Series. Hope they fit, will try them on later. Do you think those size Toyo tires would fit with a 2" lift?

I doubt it, but if you're willing to trim lots of plastic and sheet metal, maybe.. I think 30-31"s are about as big as i've heard people getting away with, without a lot of trimming and/or more lift.

Thanks again. The rims won't work either. 6 lug as oppose to 5 lug on Disco. Well I guess I will stick with the stock 16" rims for now and get some Maxxis Bighorns for them. I live in Jamaica and my supply locally is very limited. Very good Maxxis dealer though. If I got the OME 1.5" lift with the stock rims, what's the largest tire you think I could get away with without doing any cutting and no rubbing?

Here are my choices:

I run 275/65r18 cooper discoverer Sst mud tires on my 2000 with 2 1/2 lift. Supreme suspensions billet aluminum spacers, terrafirma plus 2 shocks. The only rub I have had was minor. Front and back of front tires on plastic stuff
I have since changed to a d1 bumper with a trimmed lower valence
Works very nice
