Stock Subwoofer/Amp Ugrade?

I have a new LR4 with the logic & upgrade.
Sound is pretty good (I am an audiophile) but the subwoofer is....absent!

It is working, but needs to be maxed out to be audible.
I do not want to modify the interior, so not looking for an addiitonal speaker box option (and prepared to accept the compromise)

Has anyone tried the new pioneer shallow mount 10" subwoofer with a beefed up amp in the stock location?
If I crank the volume the existing sub sounds fine....so
1. Stock location can work (for my taste)
2. Beefing up the output of the stock speaker (with an additional amp) might be sufficient

anyone tried?

thanks

Interesting - my last car was a V70R too!

On the LR4 I swapped the stock sub for a pinoeer slim fit and refabricated a mount fromMDF. I insulated the stock location with a ton (30sqft) of dynamat and alo used blocks to reduce the volume of the tailgate to match the specs of the speaker. I used a xd600/1 amplifier to power it.....it's fabulous.
Frankly, the straight speaker switch might work. I also cut out the carpet over the speaker and fabricated a grill.

hope this helps
