What "grit" of sandpaper did you use ??

I used #2 grit from 3M, labeled "WETORDRY". Most of my fender's were already rough so I sanded down the smooth portion... If you don't ruff up the smooth part it will just bead up and it being a dye will show. Wish I would of taken a before and after photo, I am very impressed with the results. We'll see how long it will hold up in the Texas sun.

so I am actually looking to roughen up the whole surface as opposed to smoothing it down with the sandpaper ??

Do you have a part number for that brush guard? I've seen it around and that's exactly what I'm looking for..... Impressive rig.

Thanks. You just missed dude. I just sold it to another member down south. I have a Bottorf Fabrication custom bumper/grill guard on the way. The part number on the grill guard is STC53179. Unless you are flush with cash, post on here with a picture of it (from google search) and see if you can pick one up in good shape. Just do a "wanting to buy" post. New you will probably be looking at around $750....ouch....
should be able to get one used for around 250 plus shipping, so around 300.
I let mine go for less than that since it was a forum member. Not a ton of them around since they custom fit the 03-04s...

Spray shine, No, armourall? God no...

Even forever black seems to wash off. At least on my rigs.

However what I do use for tires is a tire dye. It goes on like the gels do,and if anything give the tires a "new" look. It lasts a few years and it's not expensive (at least I don't recall it being). It'll give the truck a better than new finish, but doesn't shine or wash off. (I'm from the school that says a good detail job should make the car look like it just rolled off the auto show room, Henceforth no surface meets or exceeds the shine of the paint, sans chrome/mirrors)
