Question about transmissions

Hello all,

I'm in the midst of getting started with my first rover. Have the opportunity to get a series II 88. Unfortunately, it's gonna take some work to get her going. The engine is blown and will need replacing. Luckily I have a friend that has a decent old Iron Duke 4 banger he is going to sell me for cheap. After all my reading and research I'd like to replace/upgrade the gearbox. Ideally, I would love to have a five speed. But i realize the short wheel base of the 88 makes a lot of this complicated. With that being said I'm definitely okay with a solid 4 speed. I'm just looking for some good recommendations. Something that is relatively abundant (not going to be difficult and expensive to find), robust/reliable, and will fit with that iron duke. Preferably I would like to keep the original transfer case, though I am not opposed to swapping if there is something that would fit better with whichever tranny i go with. I'll be using the rig for general driving and 4x4. Nothing extreme expected (ie high speed, power or rock crawling). Thank you all greatly! This is an incredible resource and I appreciate all your help.
