Key FOB battery runs out every 2 weeks

Hello, I dropped my only remaining key FOB for my 2013 LR4 on the floor and broke the casing. After I got it replaced at the dealership, the 2032 battery started dying almost every 2 weeks on the spot.
When I went back to the dealership to have it checked, they said it might be a faulty receptor in the car itself and would cost $1,800 to replace.
Doesn't sound right to me, has anyone ever experienced anything similar?
Thanks
Abe

Ask them to order a new key fob for you and test it. Were you having problems before you dropped the silly thing?
