Post Running rich ?

How do you know if your truck is running rich? The muffler tip is pretty black - My pops just pointed it out to me

All Rovers run rich, that is one of their things they are known for.
What octane gas are you running, what do your spark plugs looking like? How long has it been since you got it out on the roads a floored it to blow out some of its build up junk?
Do you do a regular fuel additive to keep it happy?
Black is not always a bad sign, if it were really out of range, you would throw a check engine light.

So do your self a favor, once a week when getting on the freeway floor it, you'll be helping keep it cleaner. Then go get the codes checked. Get back to us and let us know what they were and the fix, then we will talk about additives and making your Rover a happy truck.
