General Information

Land Rover
Defender 110 station wagon
Expedition prepared
Originally a twelve seat truck built by LR Special Vehicles in January 1995, and sent immediately to Nepal with the British Army, where it was worked hard by the Ghurkas in service with the Military Police. In 2006 it was retired from service with the Army and re-imported to the UK by a private individual who lived in Yorkshire - hence the Yorkshire registration plate. It was kept in light use for a year before being acquired by Huddersfield Land Rover. The vehicle was one of many owned by the company, who trade in used Landrovers and parts.
In early 2008, the truck was put up for sale on E-bay, and I placed the winning bid. Later in 2008, we took the truck to the Peterborough Land Rover show, and did some very wet off road driving. A dumb move later in the day when the engine seriously overheated resulted in a cracked block. The truck sat outside my house for a year, before being given a new Turner engine, and a gearbox and transfer box from Ashcroft - both new too. Six months of hard labour then transformed him into the expedition vehicle you see here.
