There is a Yahoo Group called Birmabright. Folks from all over the world, take the list with you and if you have any problems with your Rover I am sure someone on that list would be willing to help you out.moppy220 said:Hello, I have just bought a series 3 petrol land rover and need to drive 1000 miles to get it home any useful tips would be welcome!
Earplugs provided unexpected tranquility! Only forgot to take them out at the last toll booth! Seemed to manage 25mpg on the flat, a little less when it got hilly, so credit card still in one piece. Thanks for the plugs!Bogatyr said:moppy220,
Invest in a good supply of earplugs.
Seriously, make sure you bring along a good set of tools and some spare parts. I'd recommend:
spare ignition bits (points, condensor, cap, wires, plugs)
water pump rebuild kit
a fan belt or two
gear oil
motor oil
brake fluid
coolant
credit card, you're going to spend a lot on gas
Prior to setting out I'd grease what you can. Prolly a good idea to pop off a drum or two to make sure the brakes are in good shape. Make sure all your fluid levels are correct.
I'm prolly missing something...

Landy was in v. light use. Flew in , picked it up and went for it . Didn't overstress the engine - held her back to what felt good when the incline was in our favour. Apart from the petrol- maybe 2 pints of oil and a sore arse! Thanks.Moeras said:Was the landy in daily use or did it stand for a while?
Id drain and refill the diffs and the gearbox oil.
Also take something along to plug your radiator if that goes, and a lot of Water.
Dirve slowly, dont over stress the enjin, then you will definately make it
