I am currently in the process of restoring a 1964 Land Rover Series IIA 88", and I have some decisions to make. Part of the restoration includes a full rebuild of the existing 2.25L petrol engine, but I also have a 2.5L petrol engine with the LT77 5-speed transmission. The 2.5L was last installed on a Defender 90, and reportedly worked well when it was removed in favor of a diesel. I was wondering if anyone on the forum had any thoughts on technical challenges this might present?

Anything is possible but will likely be a good bit of extra work and expense.
Many items will require fabrication and or modifications. And that’s assuming it’s a complete engine with all pulleys brackets and external items.
The 5 speed would be nice but depending on how you plan on using the truck......
what are your plans for the finished vehicle?
