My local LR dealership has a 2000 Trek for sale for $22,900, which I think is a bit steep. It only has 16,000 miles, but it looks like a fair amount of those miles were spent in the dirt. There are several nice off road scratches and the interior looks a little ragged. Also the typical rear overhang "oops that hole was deeper than I thought" crinkle on the end of the bumper and fender. It comes with all of the lights, the rack, ladder and winch intact. It is not certified.

My question is, what kind of premium would you all expect to pay for a Trek Disco? There's only something like 15 of them from 2000, so there's that to consider. Does that sound like a $2,000 premium? $5,000?

Asking what the right price is for one of the (Many) limited edition discos is like asking "how long is a piece of string/" It's what the market will bear.
There was recently a 1999 Trek, with much fewer miles, sold for way less than 22K. Keep in mind that almost all of the "limited edition" Discos are appearance packages only(roof racks, lights,upholstery and color) though some had winches added (G4)
Seems to me your money would go way further with a good, low miles, garden variety SD or SE and add that which makes the difference, such as tires, suspension, protection, etc.
Trek Color is pretty nice though, Not to be mistaken for a school bus or a piece of fruit.

yeah, i second getting the non-trek one and building it up. The trek ones seem to be for mall-runners that might see an occasional wet stretch of pavement. j/k, cant help ya on the price thing tho.

As posted by other members, the Limited editions consist mostly of appearance packages, but the thing is that these packages/options ARE NOT CHEAP.ATrek Disco will have,as you stated, a varied amount of accesories.These are worth thousands of dollars believe it or not.Just to give you an example: try to buy a winch, a genuine push bar, and a set of genuine driving lamps and you will see what I'm talking about.Other than that, the mileage is not bad at all, and even besides that, you will have a Limited edition Disco, (which would not be the a common sighting around your local mall/park/wherever you want to go), in a limited-only color scheme and loaded with accesories right away from the dealer.Just my opinion.

I have to agree,
There is something to be said for a "special vehicles" Discovery.All those extras will add up to thousands of dollars on a regular garden variety Disco.

If it's a "real" one- it has Southdown protection underneath and sliders that altogether are worth $1000 USED.

FWIW- They were going for less $ a couple years ago when I passed on buying one. Many dealers get those things CHEAP...CHEAP... and park them out front because they attract attention while they troll for a sucker.

I've got a 2004 G4 for sale- it still has warranty and isn't THAT much more $
