I have a 2004 disco 98000 miles with, from what I have been told, is 1 possibly 2 dropped liners. Power is fine. My question is this a fatal flaw. If it is what typically are the symptoms of eminent failure. Is is a gradual failure or immediate. I live in Colorado and I don't feel safe driving my truck in the winter. Forgive me I am not mechanically inclined

What were your symptoms to take it to someone in the first place? How did they come to that conclusion?

it started about 60,000 miles.there's a loud knocking noise when the car was heated.or it happens at or less than 3000 rpm. the lifters lockers and cam were replaced and still the nocking noise continued

If you haven't already, I'd take it to a reputable LR INDY shop for a proper diagnosis. If you do have slipped liners, your looking at a re-build to do it right or a replacement engine.

Thanks for your advice. Do you know roughly how much a rebuild vs new engine cost. Would you swap for a totally different make in the new engine. What make would you get. Would you get it done now or wait till the engine fails
