I just got my "new" 2004 Discovery and noticed that the water temperature warms up faster than any other vehicle that I've ever owned. I'm guessing that this might be for emissions but wanted to check in with you guys. We have a 180 t-stat, new radiator and hoses with water wetter. Temperature on the gauge settles in just below halfway (3.30) so I imagine that all is well. Does everyone else have this dynamic with their D2's? Thank you.

From my experience (96 d1, 2000 and 2001 d2s) and knowledge I have gained from others on this and similar sites ... these trucks have a very poor temperature dash gauge and having a reading as you do after only a couple minutes of driving is normal. Gauges seem to read cold - normal - overheat with no in between.
An o.b.d.2 / plug in gauge (ultra gauge is on example) to read true data temperature is a common upgrade

Yes plug in and you have a constant display.
Watched my gauge during warm up and at 140 degrees it registered normal. Still registered the same on the gauge when fully warmed up and reading 205 degrees
