Does anyone know if very early series three's 88's came with series 2a transmissions? My 72 Series three which is as far as I know unmolested, but very rusty appears to have the same trans as my 71 Series 2a which is definately a 2a trans.

AAXD,
I don't see why not...they had a parts warehouse to use up. You should be able to tell by the suffix letter on the tranny though. If it's a series 3 tranny from the early years it should have an A suffix and if a very late IIa, it'll be what, a G? Were there H suffixes? But you get the drift.
