3.2L: Oil level sensor threshold for low oil lamp

On a 2009 LR2 with the 3.2L, I wonder what the threshold is for setting the warning lamp for low oil level. How many quarts (or liters) of oil will it need to be low before setting the light. Does anybody know?

Or am I completely wrong and the car has an oil pressure sensor instead?

AFAIK LR2's have dipsticks for oil level and my manual gives a low oil pressure warning icon in the rev counter. I was always taught that if the low oil pressure warning came on pull over and stop the engine asap.
Oil level would be nice...by the time the light comes one in most engines your bearings are damaged anyway unless you're idling.
